Record anything in your project with Life’s DAW Recorder
The Life DAW Recorder is a separate plugin, that comes bundled with Life. Put it on your master or any single track to have an “always on” recording input to Life, instead of recording through the mobile recorder app. The DAW recorder enables an instant, clean signal capture workflow in high-fidelity, straight into Life. If you can hear it in your DAW, you can make loops in Life with it seconds later.
- Put the DAW Recorder plugin on the master, or your desired single channel.
- Open your instance of Life, and click the red record icon in the menu bar.
- Hit “Record” to start recording a new source file.
- You can also import the last 30 seconds of audio going through the DAW Recorder. Since the DAW Recorder is on in the background, you can always catch a cool moment, even if you forgot to hit record.
Drag & drop
Drag & drop any audio or video file onto Life to import. Life automagically separates the audio from the video file, chops your audio into one-shot samples, and generates beat variations for you to use as is or tweak to your liking.
Use Life with your MIDI controller
Play the slices in Life live with your MIDI keyboard. The slices in Life are auto-mapped to the keys on your keyboard. This lets you play the raw slices, processed slices, the kick, and even toggle live between the saved beats in your Shortlist.
You can also assign many of Life’s variation controls to MIDI CC. This allows you to control and play with Sound and Pattern variation live, along with Density, Syncopation, and Symmetry, among other things, turning Life into a live instrument!
Perfectly synced Half & Double time
Tell Life to play back any pattern in normal, half or double time, without having to change or export the MIDI.
Have Life sync perfectly to your current project/DAW, by enabling the “Sync” toggle. Life will now perfectly sync to your DAW’s Play/Stop actions and tempo settings.
Working with tonal source files
To keep your source file from being pitched in Life’s beat generations, simply disable "Pitched" to lock your source material to its original key.
